With most people the body needs about 7-8 hours of undisturbed sleep each night to
allow you to have a good day. If you are awakened continually by yours or your partners snoring, you can suffer from all sorts of
unpleasant things.
If.
You are continually tired, which affects your health in many ways.
You can fall asleep at the wheel.
You may be suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea (see your doctor soon!)
You may be falling asleep at work or in meetings.
Your partner is unhappy because you keep them awake.
You have problems sleeping or you are excessively sleepy during the day.
A good sleep routine to help sleep better.
Avoid daytime naps.
Avoid tranquillisers, sleeping pills and antihistamines before bedtime.

Avoid alcoholic beverages within three hours of retiring.

Eat meals on a regular schedule. Don't eat a large meal close to your bedtime. (Your body needs time to digest.)
Exercise during the day (but not too close to bedtime).
Have a regular bedtime and waking time, even on weekends and days you don't go to work.

Sleep on your side rather than on your back. Sleeping on the back causes snoring in that it keeps you from
benefiting from a normal sleep reflex. Sleeping on the side
causes a natural reflex to decongest the nostril on the opposite
side, allowing easier breathing through the nasal passage.
Sleeping on the back disturbs this normal reflex.
Exercise daily to develop good muscle tone and maybe lose some weight.
